Yo Gabba Gabba: Attack of the Housedad Doppelganger

Upon the advice of fellow SAHD Joeprah and my good friend Danielle, I introduced my child to the infectious wonderment of Yo Gabba Gabba, a children's show on Nick Jr.

I found some older episodes on Comcast on Demand and decided I would give it a shot. Holy Christ, I don't think I have ever had so much fun watching a children's show. The songs that are played on this show are beat-heavy and engaging. The music will bore its way deep into your skull, set up shop, and send signals to the rest of your body to jerk and gyrate uncontrollably. I giggle constantly at my little one as she moves and shakes to the `80's-infused hip-hop beats. The characters on the show are super colorful and the different segments with these monsters always has some sort of life-lesson involved. Stuff like learning how to brush your teeth or not to cut in line. Then there's the host of the show: DJ Lance Rock (Lance Robertson of west-coast indie music fame) I look at him and I think: Were we separated at birth? My little girl points to the screen and says "Dada!" every time he pops up in an episode. Here, decide for yourself on this one:

Dude! Yes! You were separated at birth! That's too funny. You could make some side money as DJ Lance for birthday parties!

And? I can't watch Yo Gabba Gabba. It just seems like too much of a bad acid trip. I start to twitch when the commercials come one. Just Little Bear and Thomas Train here at Casa CMG!

OMG...lmao!!!!! That pic of you is hysterical! You are sooooo DJ Lance's twin!!!

My kids love that show also. My sister is a musician and she actually knows the band that sings the "Banana" song. It's on the episode called "Fun". Ummm, can you tell my kids watch Yo Gabba Gabba all the time...I know the name of almost every episode. Sad.

BTW, came thru via Blog Hopper's

The resemblance is truly remarkable. Sorry, I'm glad both my kids are way past the kid TV show genre. Now, I have to put up with Ninja Warrior and America's Next Top Model... don't be too jealous. :p

Yep, you look related.

Still, I can't get into that show. Too weird, like HR Puff N Stuff

HILAROUS!! Honestly that show freaked me out the first couple of times my daughter watched it. But it has grown on me and she loves it! Constantly walking around the house singing "There's a party in my tummy, so yummy, so yummy! Must get a life.

You look just like him!

I agree with Coal Miner, that show had to have been born from LSD or something. We watch it from time to time and it makes me laugh!

Cheers from the Weekend Bloghoppers!

I TOTALLY heart Yo Gabba Gabba. I think I must sing the "Party in my Tummy" song at least twice a day, or whenver I'm trying to trick my 3yo into chomping down a reluctant dinner. Especially bizaar is the Biz's Beats segment with Biz Markee! A true child of the 80's...
Also try a "Pancake Mountain" DVD. Very cool. And you really DO look like DJ Lance!!

Uncanny. But can you rap like him?

Hoppin on thru!

Yo Gabba is da bomb diggity. I am glad you checked it out man. Addicting is the truth. I see the resemblance and it is hillarious your daughter calls him Dada. I will have to video my little on rockin' out to Gabba Gabba and post it on my site. LOL, Gabba solidarity.

That show does remind me of H.R. Pufnstuf. Tré wack.

And, not that this matters or anything, but I've been reading here for awhile and I didn't know you wore glasses.

T-Dubs! Glad you're back in the mix. I'm probably one of the few parents who hasn't seen this show. After your review, I may just check it out. Now if I start thinking of your blog everytime I see that guy, at least I'll know why.
